Dan Rutty Builder

Early Years
I am the youngest of 4 boys, raised by a single mom in Davison MI, a close superb of Flint.
I was brought up to work hard at a young age, building with my grandfather as far back as I can remember.

1986 - 1989
My high school offered a trades program that taught students everything from automotive repair to custom home building and architecture. Besides my general course studies, I took everything in the program, but excelled in Custom Home Building. Each school year, our class built a home from start to finish.
I also worked at a local lumber yard after school and on weekends.

1989 - 1993
Upon graduating from High School in 1989, I went to work fulltime for local home builder, Kevin Clark. Although my career ambitions were in music and media, my family could not afford the necessary schooling. My experience in construction offered me a way to fund my education and internships.
Kevin taught me a great deal about building custom homes. Unfortunately, he was killed by armed gunmen at a convenience store in Flint, MI on his way home from work on a Monday night. He was 37.
1993 - 1997
In 1993, at the age of 22, I started my own framing business with a friend. Over the next 4 years we roughed in nearly 30 homes in and around Flint and the surrounding areas.
I also worked part time at a local radio station in the evenings and on the weekends.

1997 - 2000
In 1997 I joined the Detroit Carpenters Union as a Tradesman and Superintendent, building much larger projects, such as churches, apartment complexes, night clubs, and larger custom homes for Executives and Pro Athletes in and around the Detroit Metro area.
I was also newly married and somehow found time to build my own personal home on the side at 26 years old.

In 2000 I decided to go into ministry. For the next 5 years I worked bi-vocationally as a General Contractor, while also serving as Youth Director and Music Director for my church. I attended ministry courses in the evenings. I built several custom homes during this time.
In 2005 I was hired into full-time ministry and went on to live my dream in music, media and large production. Since then I have continued to build multiple construction projects for my family and flip houses for extra income. I've also been able to use my construction talents on mission trips.
My wife and I are looking at property in Boulder and will likely build our next home.
